Our Story

Union Grove Baptist Church is a beacon of faith and community spirit. Its story is one steeped in tradition, perseverance, and unwavering dedication to its congregation and the surrounding community.

The church’s roots date back to 1916 and Adam’s Schoolhouse. A plan was adopted by the members who pledged their plantings from the “Lords Acre” and gave the proceeds to the church. Over the years, the church has grown in both size and stature, becoming a cornerstone of the Pelham community.

Throughout its history, Union Grove Baptist Church has weathered numerous challenges, from economic downturns to natural disasters, yet its spirit has never faltered. Instead, these trials have only strengthened the resolve of its members, fostering a sense of unity and resilience that defines the church to this day.

Union Grove Baptist Church’s impact extends far beyond the walls of its sanctuary, to mission fields in the Philippines in the Pacific Ocean, Romania in eastern Europe and Peru in the Southern Hemisphere to the local mission fields in Meigs, Pelham, and Camilla. It also serves as a hub for community gatherings, where church members and residents come together to celebrate, mourn, and support one another through life’s ups and downs. Its annual events, such as Easter Sunrise services, Vacation Bible School, and Fall Festival, have become cherished traditions that bring joy to both members and community residents alike.

The leadership of Union Grove Baptist Church, guided by a steadfast commitment to faith and service, continues to shepherd the congregation with wisdom and grace. Under their guidance, the church remains a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who enter its doors.

As Union Grove Baptist Church looks to the future, its mission remains unchanged: to glorify God, serve the community, and spread the message of love and redemption to all who seek it. With each passing year, its legacy of faith and fellowship grows stronger, ensuring that it will continue to shine brightly in the Pelham community for generations to come.
